About Stands With A Fist
Stands With A Fist is a white woman, Christine, raised by the Sioux people after she became separated from her family during an attack by the Pawnee. She was called names and beaten by a Sioux woman. One time she decided to not put up with it anymore and knocked her attacker down, who didn't get back up: she stood there with her fist raised and that's how she got her Sioux name. She was not bothered again. When John Dunbar comes in contact with the Sioux, she has to speak 'the white language' to translate what's being said. She and Dances with Wolves (f.k.a. John Dunbar) fall in love. After Kicking Bird decides her mourning period for her first husband is over, Stands and Dances get married. The American army is after Dances because they consider him a traitor and the Sioux wouldn't be save with him around. So he and Stands leave the tribe with pain in their hearts.
